About Me #
I'm an inveterate fantasy TTRPG nerd and incurable crafter. In this blog, I explore ways to level up presentation and immersion for pencil-and-paper RPG tables, and provide content for GMs and players alike. If you'd like to contact me, I can be reached at 'gm at theparchmentpaladin.com'. If you'd like to show appreciation for my content, I'd love your support on my ko-fi page.
TTRPG Games I've enjoyed: #
Cover | Title | Notes |
---|---|---|
Red Box "Mentzer" D&D. published 1983. | My first RPG experience. | |
1st Edition AD&D. published 1977. | This followed closely, and we would often mash the rules together with "Basic" D&D. | |
2nd Edition AD&D. published 1991. | I must've played this from about 1991 to 1995. Mostly homebrew settings, but I really enjoyed Spelljammer and especially Planescape. | |
GURPS Magic. published 1991. | I remember wanting to like this very flexible system, but I don't think I really "got it" at the time, and couldn't interest my friends in playing it. Still, I enjoyed reading it. | |
Marvel Super Heroes Advanced Set. published 1986. | Fun, but I think our group mostly spent time arguing over whether 'uncanny' was stronger than 'incredible' and the like. | |
West End Games' Star Wars the Role Playing Game. published 1987. | I loved the simple d6 dice pool mechanics. I hear they're making a comeback nowadays... The production quality was great and the lore in the sourcebooks was excellent. | |
2nd Edition Shadowrun RPG. published 1992. | Played this a good bit in the 2000s. | |
Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. published 2014. | Despite its warts, still by far the most popular game in town. |
